A cool place - the venue

Check out http://www.lerbjergcentret.dk/ to see it.

The website is in Danish but you can look at the photo, plan, etc.

In Google Maps search for: 55.56520, 11.86640

The location - Hvalsø - is close to Roskilde in the centre of the island called Sjælland (in English Zealand) in Denmark.

It is easy to reach from Copenhagen (short train ride, not so expensive), in pretty landscape and ideal for a day trip to an interesting cultural (or famous) place.

A Servas traveller, local to Hvalsø, told us the place is really great!

Activities

Activities on site and in the beautiful landscape of soft rolling hills and woods! We hope to see a programme of interesting activities build as we get closer to summer. Both contributions from participants and invited “speakers”, activities in large and small groups, some preplanned, others more spontaneous.

Planned activities will be posted here.

The Lerbjergcentret has extended grounds with lots of space for running wild, dancing, playing ball, yoga, sitting around the camp fire, pitching tents - you name it.

A great day trip in a hired bus is also part of the plans. Just imagine all of us taking off in the morning and enjoying a full day out. It will be a day to remember. The destination will be revealed later.

Who will be there?

Great people - Servas people. Over the winter rumour has spread that the meeting is in August and several Servas members from various countries have said they plan to come (or are interested in coming) and we are really looking forward to seeing everybody.

More info and participants list here later.

As all other youth meetings, this one is for Servas people of all ages with activities centered around the young (18-25) and families with children. We expect participants of all ages!

Application form is posted here.

Practicalities

Group travel from Copenhagen to Hvalsø will be coordinated to keep the cost of travel down. Tentative schedule is departure 13.07 - arrival 13.43. Trains leave Copenhagen Main Station at 07 and 37 minutes past every hour (two departures/hour).

A shuttle service of volunteers with cars will run between Lerbjergcentret and the station
(meet-and-greet at Hvalsø Station). Another option is to ride a bicycle from the station to the venue.

Most dorm rooms are with 8 bunks, a few with 4 (suitable for families). Bring your own sleeping bag + sheet or blankets and sheets.

No pets are allowed. Sorry, dog!

What to bring

We hope to have many bicycles there, but if you can bring yours, too.

Sheets, towel, games, photos from other Servas events, instrument, practical shoes, raincoat, sweater for late outdoor evenings, swimwear, mosquito repellent, tent (?), flashlight, etc.

Servas visits

The weekend following the event ends the summer school vacation and you should have a fair chance of finding hosts at home if you plan to stay on in Denmark or the other Nordic countries, Norway, Sweden, Finland or even Iceland.

Servas Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Iceland invite you to join.

Let’s all meet and have a great time.
